Can't sleep

So, picture this... sirens can be heard blaring loudly, and a computerized voice comes over the intercom blaring something about a massive pressure increase in a certain sector of this factory that we open up in. A man, nerdy, middle aged.. is running as fast as he can through the pipeline corridors of the industrial floor. He's panting, not in the best shape, clutching a folder to his chest tightly. He's panting hard.. but he still keeps running.

He runs under a 'bridge', the kind u find in factories that allows foreman to observe workers.... a pair of hands is seen on the railing as the man runs past. We can see a shadowy figure leap over the railing and land on the concrete with a 'thump' causing the running man to glance back if only for a second.... bam! He crashes into a chemical tank and it knocks him onto his back.. spilling the papers contained in the folder all over the ground.

Holding his head, he looks up and scrambles to his butt, leaning against the tank and clearly looking frazzled at the person who began pursuit.

"Martin.. what did you do?"

"Something I should have a long time ago! I can't... you can't do this! I made sure of it!"

"That was really stupid, you could have just said..."

"No!!! You'd have never let me leave. I know your type, Mr.." Just then a loud explosion coming from the direction the man was running errupts, a huge wall of fire can be seen, bubbling up from the sector of the warning. Eyes glaring, the man walks towards Martin. As he does, a loud whizzing is heard passing the man. Martin's eyes grow wide.. then cold.. zooming out, it's clear that a metal pipe, or beam of sorts has impaled itself through Martin's chest and into the tank, causing the chemical to spill onto the floor and saturate the papers. "Son of a.." The end sticking out of the man is glowing orange, clearly from the explosion. A small glowing bit of liquid hot metal drips from the end of the pipe and into the puddle of the liquid oozing out of the tank.

BOOM! The chemical was flammable and it bursts into a second huge explosion.

-------------

Layla Bristol sat up in her bed, sweating and clutching her chest tightly. It burned, like a glowing hot piece of metal had just been shoved through it. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and tried to catch her breath.. she was also crying. What a horrible nightmare.

-----------

This is how I want to open Res. More will come, obviously, introducing our shadowy figure and what his perspective was during the accident. Also, what Layla's bad dream means. Not a horrible way to kick off the series. I just gotta iron out the details.. like how Joey will get tied up in all of this, and Ezekiel too. I'm sure it will work itself out.

Ok, maybe now I can get to sleep.

Concept Sketch

Sooo..... I had some free time today and I decided to do some research and give it another go at Layla (the heroine from Res) and here she is.

I took a lot of inspiration from my hero, Takeshi-sensei and I think it's really helped. I'm not 100% happy with her mouth.. though I do like it. I'm still trying to figure out the top lip bit, but I'm getting there.

More to come.

It's all in the name

And by 'name' I mean the manga term for 'story board' or rough draft. It's where everything is laid out frame by frame and the story starts to materialize in front of you. Keep in mind, it's done in stick figures.. but none the less.. it's still very important.

Why am I talking about names.. because it's official people.. I have started the name for Reservoir! Da da da daaaaaa.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out where I wanted to start the damn thing.. thanks to my good friend and 'coach', Ben.. I think things are starting to fall into place. ^^ It isn't much but it really makes me feel good that Res is starting to come into the light. Woot! Now.. If I can just get my drawings up to par then we'll be all set XD I've got Manga studio to help me with my tones and what not.. but that's waaaay in the future so we won't talk about that quite yet.

Eureka!

Last night.. while lying in my bed I was hit with a wonderful glowing epiphany. The idea for a brilliant one-shot came to me. It'd have to be done right.. as most one shot's do.. but still. I was so thrilled and honored to have come up with it on my own. I teeter on releasing the idea to you.. in the happenstance that someone steals my idea and claims it for their own >.> but, lol.. my blog isn't that popular!

Just bare with me.. I think that doing this will really help me make Res a great manga. Good artists/writers should always come up with a one shot before they make a series. It really gets your juices flowing and allows you to tweak your drawings.

That's it for now.. I'll try to get some name pictures posted of the one shot so you can tell me what you think.. like the 2 of you that have even looked at this XD

Yare Yare~

Wow, work is nuts @_@ That and I blame Zach (my roomie) for getting me hooked on this new book that I can't seem to put down for a second and pick up a pen to draw >_>" But, let's try to stay positive. Research!!

The author of the book I'm reading is fantastic at writing mysteries.. which is what I was hoping that Res would be. So, this isn't considered a loss my friends.. but one more small step into making this the manga that I know it can and will be *raises hand dramatically into the air*

More drawings to come.. remember, check out my DA page for previous concepts on characters from Reservoir. ^^

Little done today

Progress on Res... little to none. I drew some more facial profiles for Sterling. that's about it. I've had mech's on the brain it seems. I've been spending hours today trying to build and design a customized heavy weight mech. So far, I've got a leg that I like XD I'm not too good with machines.

Ok, back to Res. I'm trying to think of rules for the collectors. I think having them able to change shape into whatever they want could warrant some problems. I know that I'd like to have each of them with a form that they prefer and a normal human form. I may have it that they can only change into one human form until forced to take on another identity. That being the case, the person who's form they take must die for them to use it. Something along those lines. I just need something that would prevent them from constantly changing human forms and making it damn near impossible for Joey and Zeke to find them. (For those of you who don't know, Joey and Zeke are some of the main characters) But it also gives me freedom to change how they look periodically if I start to get bored with a character design.

Benjamin Sterling

I've spent part of my day coming up with a face for one of my main protagonists. I'm pretty sure I like what I've come up with. There is no doubt that when you look at him, you will think 'prick'. I've only drawn him from one angle though.. which brings up a very important point...

Why the hell is it so difficult to draw people from more that just one angle?!?!

If any of you know me, it's that my speciality when it comes to drawing is in creatures and monsters. As me to draw you something with 4 eyes, 6 legs, scales, feathers and big teeth.. I can draw it for you from every angle imaginable.. but people. Oooooh nuuuu. This being said why the hell did I decide to draw manga? Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment. *shrug* All I can say is that it's fuckin' hard. I'm going to be reading multiple tuts tonight to see how the accomplished artist do it.

Aaanyway. I'll try to get some pics of him posted so you all can smother me in your critisism. Till then, my DA page is http://megume.deviantart.com There are some other character concepts for Reservoir posted up there.

Yatta

Ok, so this blog has been set up so I can force myself to post and talk about my upcoming manga every day. With this will come me working on it everyday.

I must post something! Even if it's "I was sick and didn't draw" which will probably never happen.. I draw even when I'm not feeling well.

Ok, that's it for tonight. I'm gonna go WoW with Zaku-kun. Bye!
