Can't sleep

So, picture this... sirens can be heard blaring loudly, and a computerized voice comes over the intercom blaring something about a massive pressure increase in a certain sector of this factory that we open up in. A man, nerdy, middle aged.. is running as fast as he can through the pipeline corridors of the industrial floor. He's panting, not in the best shape, clutching a folder to his chest tightly. He's panting hard.. but he still keeps running.

He runs under a 'bridge', the kind u find in factories that allows foreman to observe workers.... a pair of hands is seen on the railing as the man runs past. We can see a shadowy figure leap over the railing and land on the concrete with a 'thump' causing the running man to glance back if only for a second.... bam! He crashes into a chemical tank and it knocks him onto his back.. spilling the papers contained in the folder all over the ground.

Holding his head, he looks up and scrambles to his butt, leaning against the tank and clearly looking frazzled at the person who began pursuit.

"Martin.. what did you do?"

"Something I should have a long time ago! I can't... you can't do this! I made sure of it!"

"That was really stupid, you could have just said..."

"No!!! You'd have never let me leave. I know your type, Mr.." Just then a loud explosion coming from the direction the man was running errupts, a huge wall of fire can be seen, bubbling up from the sector of the warning. Eyes glaring, the man walks towards Martin. As he does, a loud whizzing is heard passing the man. Martin's eyes grow wide.. then cold.. zooming out, it's clear that a metal pipe, or beam of sorts has impaled itself through Martin's chest and into the tank, causing the chemical to spill onto the floor and saturate the papers. "Son of a.." The end sticking out of the man is glowing orange, clearly from the explosion. A small glowing bit of liquid hot metal drips from the end of the pipe and into the puddle of the liquid oozing out of the tank.

BOOM! The chemical was flammable and it bursts into a second huge explosion.

-------------

Layla Bristol sat up in her bed, sweating and clutching her chest tightly. It burned, like a glowing hot piece of metal had just been shoved through it. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and tried to catch her breath.. she was also crying. What a horrible nightmare.

-----------

This is how I want to open Res. More will come, obviously, introducing our shadowy figure and what his perspective was during the accident. Also, what Layla's bad dream means. Not a horrible way to kick off the series. I just gotta iron out the details.. like how Joey will get tied up in all of this, and Ezekiel too. I'm sure it will work itself out.

Ok, maybe now I can get to sleep.

Concept Sketch

Sooo..... I had some free time today and I decided to do some research and give it another go at Layla (the heroine from Res) and here she is.

I took a lot of inspiration from my hero, Takeshi-sensei and I think it's really helped. I'm not 100% happy with her mouth.. though I do like it. I'm still trying to figure out the top lip bit, but I'm getting there.

More to come.
